APReD offers the following institutional technical support and capacity strengthening consultancy services to local CBOs, FBOs, CSOs, NGOs and government institutions with particular focus on the thematic areas related to peace and development; leadership and governance; climate change action and natural resource management; and, African diplomacy and foreign relations:

1. Solution-oriented Research, Conflict Analysis & Program/Project Evaluations:

APReD carries out cutting edge solution-oriented, evidence-based and participatory research on different thematic areas surrounding peace & development; leadership & governance; natural resource management & climate change; and, diplomacy & human security across the IGAD region. Based on research findings, the organization disseminate strategic and high level recommendations that informs programs, interventions and related policies. APReD provide consultancy services to organizations and institutions in designing, commissioning and conducting research; conflict analysis; assessments; program/project baselines; and, program/project evaluations.

3. Strategic & Adaptive Program/Project Management:

APReD offers institutional technical support in the development and strengthening of systems and structures that enhances Strategic and Adaptive Program/Project Management. The focus here is on program/project management establishments that utilizes and adopts Project Cycle Management (PCM) approach; Results-Based Management (RBM) approach; Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) approach; and, Conflict Sensitivity Programming (CSP) approach. The key systems and structures that are developed and strengthened based on these approaches include MEARL systems; multi-stakeholder engagement & management systems; documentation & knowledge management systems; risk tracking and management frameworks; and, communication, reporting and impact/results showcasing mechanisms.

5. Capacity Building Trainings Support:

APReD offers strategic support to donors, organizations and government institutions in delivering contextualized and tailor-made capacity building trainings (with greater focus on peacebuilding, governance, natural resource management, climate action, gender & youth, and, program/project management & organizational management) to their target groups, institutions and/or stakeholders. APReD provide technical support in the development and review of capacity building strategies/frameworks and content (training modules/manuals) based on the needs of the engaged client and target beneficiaries.

2. Holistic & Sustainable Peacebuilding:

APReD provide institutional technical support in the development and strengthening of innovative strategies and infrastructures that enhances Holistic and Sustainable Peacebuilding. The greater focus here is to integrate (positive) peace, (good) governance and (sustainable) development interventions across the entire conflict cycle. The key strategies and infrastructures that are established based on this approach include conflict prevention (CEW&ER) systems; conflict management (negotiation & mediation) mechanisms; conflict resolution (problem solving, dialogue & reconciliation) frameworksand, conflict transformation (institutional/structural reconstruction – individual, relational, cultural & structural/institutional levels).

4. Effective & Efficient Organizational Management:

APReD offers strategic and technical support in the development and strengthening of key structures and frameworks that enhances effectiveness and efficiency in organizational operations and management. The greater focus here is on organizational profiles; organograms; thematic/priority areas of intervention; strategic plans; resource mobilization (project proposals development) & management; staff development; and, organizational sustainability.

6. Human Security Diplomacy Support:

APReD provide technical support to local CBOs, FBOs, CSOs and NGOs through Civil Society Diplomacy (CSD), and, in the development and utilization of appropriate strategies/frameworks for influencing NATIONAL and/or REGIONAL POLICIES that contributes to peace, human security (economic, political, food, health, environmental, personal & community), development and good governance in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) in Northern Kenya region and along its international borderlines with Uganda, South Sudan and Ethiopia (the IGAD’s Karamoja Cluster).
